Stirling Prize Shortlist 2023

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has announced the shortlist for the coveted 2023 RIBA Stirling Prize. The prize is awarded to the UK’s best new building, and we are thrilled that one of our two Central Somers Town regeneration projects has been selected for this prestigious shortlist.

Part of London Borough of Camden’s Community Investment Programme, the community facilities and housing scheme in Somers Town is a regenerative, transformative intervention that brings much needed homes and active space to an overcrowded corner of inner London. The Central Somers Town Community Hub involved the design and construction of a six-storey building housing a children’s nursery and community play facility on the ground floor, with 10 affordable housing units above.

This BREEAM Excellent scheme has innovative sustainability credentials, including connection to the Kings Cross decentralised district heating network, which supports the Borough’s carbon and energy reduction initiatives in-line with the London Plan, as well as ensuring affordability for residents.
