Supporting The African Schools Improvement Trust

Our project at Wimbledon High School involves the construction of a new three storey sixth form centre including a large hall and basement.  The project also requires the partial reconfiguration and refurbishment of existing rooms within the Junior School.  Much of the school furniture is being updated and replaced as part of the refurbishment, which has meant that a lot of good quality existing furniture is being discarded.

Rather than throwing away these items, we agreed with the school that they could be passed on to organisations in need of resources.  Our site manager Lewis met with an organisation called The African Schools Improvement Trust, who were set up to support some of the poorest schools in Africa.

We organised for the furniture to be transported to a new school that had recently been built in Ghana, the only school within a very large area.   We recently received confirmation that the furniture had arrived safely along with images of it in use! We are really pleased to know that it has has gone to a good home and will support the education of young people growing up in Ghana.
