Neilcott are proud to have taken part in last weeks inaugural Work Experience Week, a joint scheme by Considerate Constructors Scheme, Learn Live News Channel and Built Environment Academy. Our Project Manager, Mike Jameson MCIOB signed up to the scheme with CCS, working alongside our Social Value Manager, Jenny Bignell and Sustainability & Social Value Co-ordinator Faye Stapleton, to host and deliver hands-on industry experience and mentorship to students from Ravenswood School.
Mentoring x4 year 12 students to develop and progress their assigned Highways Project, which comprised planning, costing and designing part of a new road in England. Students attended our site at Churchill Court to develop a greater understanding of the construction environment and associated roles, whilst also accessing in person expert/technical advice from designated Neilcott mentors to support the development of their project.
Working with our mentors over the course of the week, students considered all aspects of project planning and delivery, including traffic management, costings, sustainability, and social value, with their confirmed selection compiled within a presentation for presenting to CCS. The Ravenswood students came 4th place out of 11, with their presentation considered very robust and well thought out.
Thank you to Considerate Constructors Scheme for enabling us to be part of such a great scheme, inspiring the next generation to consider construction related careers.
