#MakeItVisible @ Harrow School Site

We had the pleasure of welcoming the #MakeItVisible team last week on our Harrow School dining hall site, where we are currently delivering a complex phased refurbishment to expand and upgrade dining facilities. This is following the recent completion of state-of-the-art new STEM facilities at the prestigious boarding school, as part of their ambitious development programme. The #MakeItVisible taskforce joined us to meet with our staff and supply chain to talk about all of the brilliant ways the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity are working to make mental health support accessible to all construction workers. At Neilcott, we are actively working to foster a positive workplace culture that promotes mental health awareness, creating a supportive and inclusive environment for our staff. That’s why we are company supporters of the #LighthouseCharity, and their goal to make mental health visible on-site. The site visit included a stand down ‘all hands’ Toolbox Talk to everyone on site, with the taskforce encouraging open conversations by sharing their first-hand life experiences and focus on the importance of positive mental health and wellbeing. We also provided an ice cream truck to keep everyone cool during the talk. The taskforce provided a safe space for open discussion and addressed a wide range of wellbeing issues, including financial concerns, debt, bills, illnesses, injuries and cancer support, highlighting the ways in which this incredible charity can provide support. Thank you to the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity & the brilliant #MakeItVisible team for braving the heat to come along and speak to the Neilcott site team about the many ways that they can support everyone working within the construction industry (and their families!). The construction industry is beleaguered by sobering suicide & mental health statistics, therefore, through an active mental health first aider training programme, we are taking steps to educate our team to recognise the signs and symptoms of our colleagues that are suffering from stress, anxiety or depression and start the conversation to assist in their recovery.

Volunteers Week

Volunteers’ Week celebrates the amazing contributions volunteers make to communities across the UK. It’s a chance to recognise, celebrate and thank the UK’s incredible volunteers for all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector, and society as a whole. Neilcott’s newly introduced corporate volunteering provision encourages staff to take 1 day a year to dedicate time to volunteering. This year, as part of our first instalment of our corporate volunteering offering, 45 volunteers, including Neilcott staff & members of our supply chain, Consara, GGH HIRE, AJ Hills Ltd, Ingleton Wood LLP, joined our day at the Wolves Lane Centre to support the progression of the Centre’s new eco-builds. The day, which was an overwhelming success, comprised undertaking key activities, including clay plastering with field experts, including Annie from The Hemp Block Company Limited, & transporting and compacting recycled aggregate to develop the sub base. Watch the video of our Volunteering Day here: https://lnkd.in/dUAtPaBa Visit https://lnkd.in/e7RRUjJX for more information on The Wolves Lane Centre & its major transformation. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Upcoming staff volunteering opportunities include assisting in the sorting and packing of emergency food parcels for London Borough of Bromley Food Bank & clearing litter accumulated at Ruxley Gravel Pits, a little-known haven for wildlife, which is home to a whole range of species, from reed warblers & tufted ducks to water voles. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
