A busy month at the YMCA!

A busy month at the YMCA! Check out our timelapse for the month of June at the YMCA!  Last month saw the continuation of  the concrete frame installation.  The timelapse shows the close coordination required between erecting the falsework, laying the decking, installing reinforcement and pumping the concrete slabs in order to achieve optimum timescales. Neilcott were appointed following single stage competitive tender to undertake Phase 1 of the YMCA redevelopment.  The existing YMCA building required urgent modernisation and this scheme will provide 121 hostel rooms with en-suite bathrooms and cooking facilities, to help give residents a better quality of life and support them back into independent living. In addition, YMCA residents and the Wimbledon community will benefit from new and improved, affordable facilities, including a gym, bigger studio space for fitness classes, a children’s area and brand-new YMCA café. Following completion next year, YMCA residents will move into the new facility enabling the existing building to be demolished ready for future redevelopment.

Kiln Place wins RIBA London & RIBA National 2022!

Kiln Place wins RIBA London Award 2022 and RIBA National Award 2022! We would like to congratulate Peter Barber Architects on their recent RIBA London Award and RIBA National Award for their design of Kiln Place, Camden. This extremely complex development comprises 6 infill sites within the Kiln Place Estate. Peter Barber Architects were challenged with creating attractive, spacious feeling family homes on an existing parking lot, a disused plant room and a bin store!  The finished project successfully illustrates how local authorities can provide new high-density public housing that is sensitive and does not require the demolition of existing homes. For more information on the project you can visit https://www.architecture.com/awards-and-competitions-landing-page/awards/riba-regional-awards/riba-london-award-winners/2022/kiln-place.

Brewers’ Hall 002

Project Completion – Brewers’ Hall

Project Completion – Brewers’ Hall We are pleased to have recently completed the works at Brewers’ Hall to expand and enhance this historic building through a complex rooftop extension. The Worshipful Company of Brewers is one of the ancient Livery Companies of the City of London. London brewers are known to have organised as a group in the 13th century and their first royal charter was granted by Henry VI in 1438.  The company’s first hall was destroyed by the Great Fire of London in 1666.  The current Brewers’ Hall was built in 1960, after bombing in 1940 destroyed the previous building.  The current building is now available to hire for events. Neilcott was appointed following competitive single stage tender to undertake the design and construction of a vertical rooftop extension and internal remodelling within the Brewer’s Hall. We extended the existing stone façade at the 3rd floor and added a new mansard roof extension to the 4th and 5th floors with preoxidised copper cladding.  We also undertook refurbishment works to create additional CAT-A office space. Congratulations to all those involved in the completion of this highly complex project.
